Commentary on Tafsir al-Jalalayn: “Say, ‘Have you seen, if it were’” meaning the Qur’an, “from Allah” as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “then you disbelieved in it, who is” meaning no one, “more astray than he who is in a far”

Then Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said:
Say, "Have you considered: if the Qur'an is from Allah قل أرأيتم إن كان مِن عند الله
[Fussilat 41:52]
As the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “
and you disbelieved in it, who would be more astray than one who is in extreme dissension?" ثم كفرتم به من أضل ممن هو في شقاق بعيد
[Fussilat 41:52]
Say, “Have you seen” قل أرأيتم
Did you seeأرأيتم
meaning inform me, and his saying:
Ifإن كان
means the Qur’an
From Allah and you disbelieved in itمن عند الله وكفرتم به
Sahih Ibn Hibban 64:69
and you denied that it is from Allah
Who is more astray than he who is in a far disagreement مَن أضل ممن هو في شقاق بعيد
Have you seen, if it were from Allah and it became clear to you that it is from Allah, then you disbelieved in it
who would be more astray than one who is in extreme dissension?" من أضل ممن هو في شقاق بعيد
[Fussilat 41:52]
But he made it explicit in the place of the implied pronoun for a benefit we will mention, if Allah wills. His saying:
If it were from Allah إن كان عند الله
means the Qur’an, and that became clear and evident to you.
and you disbelieved in it ثم كفرتم به
[Fussilat 41:52]
He used
Thenثم
which indicates sequence and delay, pointing to the fact that these people denied and disbelieved after deliberation and after the period in which one who wishes to believe would believe.
and you disbelieved in it ثم كفرتم به
[Fussilat 41:52]
And his saying:
with it به
The pronoun refers to the Qur’an, and it is permissible that it refers to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), because he is the one upon whom the Qur’an was revealed.
Who is more astray مَن أضل
The author said: “
Meaning no one is more astray ” pointing to the fact that the question here means negation. Know that the question often comes to mean negation, and its coming in the place of negation is greater than negation, because when the question comes in the place of negation, it takes on the meaning of a challenge, as if he said: Show me anyone more astray. And this is undoubtedly containing both negation and challenge. And he said:
who would be more astray than one who is in extreme dissension?" من أضل ممن هو في شقاق بعيد
[Fussilat 41:52]
Whoeverمَن
This is a subject, a question word as a subject, and
More astrayأضل
is its predicate.
from those who areممن هو
Meaning who is the one who is in
He is in a state of discordهو في شقاق
disagreement
distantبعيد
Rather, shiqaq (hostility) is more specific than khilaf (disagreement), because one may disagree with you without being hostile to you, but these people disagreed and were hostile. And his saying:
distant بعيد
means “
Far from the truth. He placed this in the position of
From among youمنكم
to describe their state ” “ He placed this ” meaning
who would be more astray than one who is in extreme dissension?" مَن أضل ممن هو في شقاق بعيد
[Fussilat 41:52]
“
in the position of you ” meaning: in the position of the pronoun, so it is an explicit mention in the place of an implied pronoun. “ To describe their state” meaning to describe that they are the most astray of all people and that their state is far-reaching hostility. So there is an explicit mention in the place of an implied pronoun? And Abdullah ibn Ayyud, explain to us the benefit of the explicit mention in the place of the implied pronoun? Ibn Ayyud or Ibn Awwad?
The student: Ibn Awwad

The Shaykh : No, oh Ibn Awwad
The student: It was mentioned a little while ago

The Shaykh : Do not say it was mentioned a little while ago... You repeated what was said
The student: ... The explicit mention in the place of the implied pronoun?

The Shaykh : Yes, what is its benefit?
The student: One of its benefits is: describing the attribute that the referent deserves... Facilitating for these students

The Shaykh : Okay.
The student: And one of its benefits is also describing generality, meaning that everyone who does this, then this includes them

The Shaykh : The description... Yes, you did well. Three:
The student: And one of its benefits is also:

The Shaykh : Now we will argue against you with your saying: It was mentioned a little while ago
The student: Alerting.

The Shaykh : Good, alerting the addressee, since the context became contrary to what was expected, and this leads to his becoming alert
