Continuation of the benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “Or have they taken allies other than Him? But Allah is the Protector, and He gives life to the dead, and He is over all things competent.”

In this noble verse, there is a clarification of the power of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) over a matter that no one claims, and whoever claims it is contradicted by reality, as He said: [Ash-Shuraa 42:9] No one ever claims this; if they did, they would be lying. If someone asks: “Is it not the case that a man who deserves execution is brought, and the ruler orders that he not be killed? Is this not giving life?” The answer is: It cannot be giving life, but rather preserving life, because life preceded it. He did not create life in him to keep him alive, but he preserved an existing life. If someone asks: “What do you say about the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Ma'idah: 32] ... [Al-Ma'idah 5:32] which affirms giving life to a person?” The answer is: He gave them life by preserving their lives. That is, whoever removes the threat of killing from a person and defends someone who is being killed is as if he has given life to all people. Otherwise, it is well known that no one can breathe the soul into a dead person.
And among the benefits of this noble verse is the comprehensiveness of the power of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), as He said:.
And among its benefits is the encouragement—meaning the encouragement of the person—to supplicate to Allah for whatever he desires, provided he does not transgress in his supplication. Pay attention, this is an educational benefit: that you should supplicate to Allah for everything except what Allah has forbidden you to supplicate for, as He said: If you supplicate to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) for anything, do not despair. Do not say, “This is impossible,” except in cases of aggression and transgression, which are not permissible. This opens for the person the door of hope and the door of supplicating to Allah and turning to Him. If you have a leper who is in a hopeless state, and you say, “By Allah, I cannot supplicate to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) because the man has reached a critical condition,” this is undoubtedly a mistake, because Allah is over all things competent. So supplicate to Allah. A person whose means are cut off, who sought provision through buying and selling and lost, sought provision by applying for a job and did not succeed, and so on, says, “Well, that’s it, what is the point of supplicating?” What do we say to him? We say: This is a mistake and an error. Supplicate to Allah, for Allah is over all things competent. How many people have had their washer prepare them, bought their shroud, brought their bier, and their companions prepared to accompany them to the grave, and then Allah (Mighty and Majestic) heals them, because Allah is over all things competent. So when you believe that Allah is over all things competent, do not consider anything difficult for the power of Allah. Ask for everything, provided it is not a sin or severing of family ties, and do not despair. And for this reason, He said: And this phrase, as I told you, indicates that a person does not despair of the mercy of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and that he should supplicate to Allah (the Exalted) for whatever he desires, provided it is not a sin or severing of family ties.

وهو يحيي الموتىBecause of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely.
