Tafsir of Surat al-Shura-07b
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Then Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said: [Ash-Shuraa 42:25].
Among the benefits of this noble verse is the mercy of Allah the Exalted toward His servants, as He encouraged them to repent and directed them to do so in His saying:[Ash-Shuraa 42:25]. This is not merely a report that Allah accepts, but rather an encouragement from Allah and a warning that we should repent to Allah. O Allah, guide us to repentance, O Lord of the worlds. It is similar to if I were to say: "Whoever visits me, I will give him one hundred dirhams." The meaning of this is an encouragement for people to visit; every person will turn to visiting: [Ash-Shuraa 42:25]. It is undoubtedly an encouragement for people to repent to Allah, Mighty and Majestic.
Among the benefits of the noble verse is the clarification of the generosity of the Lord, Mighty and Majestic, in that He accepts repentance from His servants no matter how great the sin may be. Read the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted: [Surat al-Zumar: 53]. Is repentance from disbelief accepted or not accepted? It is accepted. Islam demolishes what came before it, no matter how great, even if one has cursed Allah or His Messenger and then embraced Islam, his repentance is accepted due to the generality of the evidence. And Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Anfal 8:38], meaning regarding their disbelief, [Al-Anfal 8:38] ... and even if it is great, due to His saying: [An-Nisa 4:22]. "What has passed" is a relative pronoun that indicates generality. So even if this disbelieving man killed a thousand believing men and then embraced Islam, Allah would accept his repentance. Therefore, if disbelievers embrace Islam after they have destroyed the wealth of Muslims in war, do they have to compensate the Muslims for their wealth? They do not have to compensate the Muslims, because Islam demolishes what came before it.
Among the benefits of the noble verse is the indication of the gentleness of Allah, Blessed and Exalted, where He said:. As if, and Allah knows best, because they were His slaves, He treated them with gentleness, forgiveness, and repentance.
Among the benefits of the noble verse is that when Allah accepts the repentance of a servant, He forgives his sins no matter how great they are, due to His saying:[Ash-Shuraa 42:25].
Among the benefits of the noble verse is the affirmation of the comprehensiveness of the knowledge of Allah, Glorified and Exalted, regarding everything we do, due to His saying:[Ash-Shuraa 42:25].
Branching from this benefit is the warning against disobedience. The indication of this is:[Ash-Shuraa 42:25], meaning: So beware of doing anything that angers Him, for He is All-Aware of you.
And it is He who accepts repentance from his servants and pardons misdeeds
