Ruling on praying at home if the mosque is far away
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: I live in a house far from the mosque and I am forced to use a car to go to prayer. If I walk on foot, I sometimes miss the prayer. I hear the adhan through loudspeakers. Is there any blame on me if I pray at home or pray with three or four of my neighbors in one of our homes? Please advise us, may Allah reward you with good.
A: It is obligatory for you to pray with your Muslim brothers in the mosque if you hear the call in your location with the usual voice without a loudspeaker, when the sounds are quiet and there is nothing preventing hearing. If you are far away and do not hear the voice of the call without a loudspeaker, it is permissible for you to pray in your house or with some of your neighbors; for it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said to the blind man when he sought his permission to pray in his house:Sahih Muslim 653 He said, Yes. He said: Narrated by Imam Muslim in his Sahih.
And because of his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):Sunan Ibn Majah 793Sahih (Darussalam) It was narrated by Ibn Majah, al-Daraqutni, Ibn Hibban, and al-Hakim with a sound chain. And whenever you respond to the mu'adhdhin, even if you are far away and you endure hardship on foot or in a car, it is better for you and more excellent. And Allah records for you the footprints of your going to the mosque and your returning from it, with sincerity and intention. For it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said to a man who was far from the Prophet’s Mosque and whose prayer was never missed with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): It was said to him, "Why don't you buy a donkey to ride in the scorching heat and in the dark night?" He said: I do not like my house to be near the mosque. I love that my walking to the mosque and my return to my family be recorded for me. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: It was narrated by Imam Muslim in his Sahih.

Do you hear the call to prayer?
هل تسمع النداء بالصلاة؟Then respond.
فأجبAnd because of his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever hears the call and does not come, his prayer is not valid, except for those who have an excuse.
من سمع النداء فلم يأته فلا صلاة له إلا من عذرIndeed, Allah has gathered all of that for you
إن الله قد جمع لك ذلك كله
