The ruling on the one who delivers the Friday sermon while another leads the prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: In the Friday prayer, one man gave the first call to prayer, and another gave the second call. One man delivered the two Friday sermons, and another man led us in the prayer. What is the ruling on this?
A: There is no harm in this, and praise be to Allah. It is permissible for one person to give the first call to prayer and another to give the second, for one person to deliver the sermon, and for another to lead the prayer. There is no harm in any of this, and praise be to Allah. However, it is better for the one who leads the prayer to deliver the sermon, and for the one who delivers the sermon to lead the prayer, if that is feasible. It is better for the imam to be the one who delivers the sermon, as was the case with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the Rightly Guided Caliphs. But if one person delivers the sermon and another leads the prayer, there is no harm.
