A young man delivers the sermon and another man leads the prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: In some areas, they have a young man deliver the sermon, while another man leads the prayer, and they continue to do this. What is the ruling on their prayer?
A: There is no harm in this if the young man is better at delivering the sermon and the imam is not very good at it, and if the responsible authorities employ someone to deliver a sermon that is more beneficial to the people. It is not necessary for one person to lead both the prayer and the sermon, because the prayer is independent of the sermon. However, it is better and more preferable for one person to handle both, and for the responsible authorities to choose someone qualified for that, following the example of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), his righteous successors, and those who followed them with excellence. And success is from Allah.
