There is no regular voluntary prayer (sunnah rawatib) before Friday prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: The brother M. A. M. from Algeria asks in his question: Is there a sunnah before or after Friday prayer?

A: There is no regular voluntary prayer (sunnah rawatib) before Friday prayer according to the most correct opinion of the scholars. However, it is prescribed for the Muslim, when he enters the mosque, to pray whatever number of rak'ahs Allah makes easy for him, concluding the prayer every two rak'ahs. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Prayer by night and day should consist of pairs of rak'ahs.صلاة الليل والنهار مثنى مثنى
Sunan Abi Dawud 1295Sahih (Al-Albani)
It was narrated by Imam Ahmad and the people of the Sunan with a good chain of narration, and its original source is in the Sahih without mentioning the daytime.
Also, it is authentically established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in many hadiths that what is prescribed for the Muslim when he enters the mosque on Friday is to pray whatever Allah has allotted for him before the imam goes out to lead the prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not specify a fixed number of rak'ahs for this. So if he prays two, four, or more than that, all of it is good. The minimum is two rak'ahs, which is the greeting of the mosque. As for after the Friday prayer, there is a regular voluntary prayer (sunnah rawatib), the minimum of which is two rak'ahs and the maximum is four. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever among you prays after Friday prayer, let him pray four rak'ahs after it.من كان منكم مصليًا بعد الجمعة فليصل بعدها أربعًا
Sunan ad-Darimi 2:385
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray two rak'ahs after Friday prayer in his house.
May Allah guide everyone to what pleases Him.
