Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The Shaykh said: The female questioner says: I ask you, Your Eminence, to clarify the regular and non-regular sunnah prayers and the voluntary prayers, and to explain this matter; because it is confusing for us how many of these prayers are there, and are they rewarded?

Answer:
The regular sunnah consists of twelve rak'ahs: two before the Fajr prayer, four before the Dhuhr prayer, two after it, two after the Maghrib prayer, and two after the 'Isha' prayer, making twelve. If he prays four after the Dhuhr prayer just as he prays four before it, that is better; based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever prays regularly four Rak'at before and four Rak'at after the Zuhr prayer, Allah will forbid for him (from entering) the Hellfire.من حافظ على أربع قبل الظهر وأربع بعدها حرمه الله على النار
Bulugh al-Maram 2:262
It is recommended for him to pray four rak'ahs before the 'Asr prayer with two taslims; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
May Allah mercy on a person who prays four Rak'at before the 'Asr prayer.رحم الله امرأً صلى أربعًا قبل العصر
Bulugh al-Maram 2:263
, and it is recommended to pray two rak'ahs between the adhan and the iqamah after the adhan of Maghrib, and two rak'ahs before the iqamah after the adhan of 'Isha'; based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
There is a prayer between the two Adhans (Adhan and Iqama), there is a prayer between the two Adhans." And then while saying it the third time he added, "For the one who wants to (pray).بين كل أذانين صلاة بين كل أذانين صلاة، ثم قال في الثالثة لمن شاء
Sahih al-Bukhari 627
, he said:
"Pray before Maghrib, pray before Maghrib" then he said at the third time, "Whoever wishes (to)"صلوا قبل المغرب صلوا قبل المغرب ثم قال في الثالثة لمن شاء
Bulugh al-Maram 2:264
.
It is recommended to pray the Duha prayer, two rak'ahs or more, or four, or six, or eight, or more. The sunnah of the Duha prayer and the Tahajjud prayer at night: one prays whatever is easy for him of the night, three, five, seven, or more. The best is eleven, or thirteen, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did at night, saying taslim after every two rak'ahs, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did, based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Prayer during the night should consist of pairs of rak'ahs, but if one of you fears the morning is near he should pray one rak'ah which will make his prayer an odd number for him.صلاة الليل مثنى مثنى، فإذا خشي أحدكم الصبح صلى ركعة واحدة توتر له ما قد صلى
Sunan Abi Dawud 1326Sahih (Al-Albani)
, and may Allah guide them all. Yes.

The presenter: O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you, O Shaykh.
