The ruling on one who reached puberty and did not fast, believing it was not obligatory on her due to her youth

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
When I reached the age of twelve, my menstrual period came before Ramadan, and my family did not encourage me to fast, claiming that I had not yet reached the age of fourteen; this was out of their ignorance, not negligence. I ask you to inform me what I must do now?

Answer:
You must make up the days of Ramadan that you did not fast after your menstruation began, along with repentance and seeking forgiveness. You must also feed one poor person for each day, which is half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of the staple food of the country, such as dates, rice, or other similar items. A group of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) issued a ruling to this effect, and the amount is approximately one and a half kilograms. It is permissible to give the entire expiation to one poor person, either before or after fasting, if you are able to do so. However, if you are poor and unable to provide the food, it is dropped from you. And success is from Allah.
