Zakah is not waived on money saved for marriage
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: If a person is gathering money with the intention of using it to get married, is he exempt from paying zakah?
A: Zakah is not waived for him by the intention of marriage. The same applies to one who gathers money to pay off a debt, or to buy a property to endow it, or a slave to free him. Rather, it is obligatory for all of them to pay zakah when a lunar year has passed over the gathered money; because Allah the Exalted made zakah obligatory and did not make such purposes a reason for its exemption.
And zakah increases wealth rather than decreasing it, and it purifies it and purifies its owner, as Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Tawbah: 103], and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2029Sahih (Darussalam).
May Allah guide everyone to what brings Him pleasure and to the purity of their conscience from His right and the rights of His servants; indeed, He is the All-Hearing, the Near. And peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. And may Allah send prayers and peace upon His servant and messenger Muhammad, and his family and his companions.

Take, [O, Muhammad], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase
