The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you with good.

The questioner : Shaykh, I want to ask about dividing the rak'ahs of the tarawih prayer?

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : We pray four rak'ahs, or two taslims, then I pray two taslims, then I pray the witr with two taslims, the last of which I pray after one o'clock, and then I pray the witr. Perhaps there is something in the division.

The Shaykh : Your question is not clear. May Allah bless you.

The questioner : I say, O Shaykh, I want to pray the witr and the qiyam prayer.

The Shaykh: All right.

The questioner : I pray four rak'ahs after the 'Isha' prayer, four rak'ahs, meaning two taslims.

The Shaykh: All right.

The questioner : Then at one o'clock at night I pray four rak'ahs, meaning two taslims, then I pray the witr. Is there anything wrong with this?

The Shaykh : There is nothing wrong with it.

The questioner : And is there anything better than that?

The Shaykh : Meaning, you pray two rak'ahs at a time, saying the taslim at the end of every two rak'ahs.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : But you divide the qiyam into two parts.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : You pray four rak'ahs at the beginning of the night.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : Then four rak'ahs in the middle of the night.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : Then you pray the three rak'ahs of the witr.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : There is nothing wrong with that; this is the best thing.

The questioner : Even if you are the imam, meaning I pray with the people in the mosque.

The Shaykh : Here, if you are the imam, you must consider the needs of those praying behind you.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : If they are able to stand with you in this division,

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : without causing a problem in the mosque, then it is permissible; otherwise, it is not.

The questioner : Okay, may Allah reward you, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : May Allah preserve you.
