Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: A man decided to fast in Sha'ban, and during his fasting in the days of Sha'ban, illness overtook him and he broke his fast, while his intention was to complete Sha'ban by fasting. Does he receive the reward for that intention?

Answer: He is to be hoped for the reward of what he intended, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
When a slave falls ill or travels, then he will get reward similar to that he gets for good deeds practiced at home when in good health.إذا مرض العبد أو سافر كتب الله له مثل ما كان يعمل مقيمًا صحيحًا
Sahih al-Bukhari 2996
narrated by al-Bukhari in his Sahih, and based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended.إنما الأعمال بالنيات وإنما لكل امرئ ما نوى
Sahih al-Bukhari 1
