Fulfilling the Debt Before Hajj
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: I have a debt and I want to perform Hajj. Is it permissible for me to do so? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer: If you have money that is sufficient for both Hajj and paying off the debt, there is nothing wrong with it. However, if the money is not sufficient for both, start with the debt; because paying off the debt takes precedence. And Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) says: [Al-Imran: 97] And you are not able [to perform Hajj]; because the debt prevents you from having the ability. But if you have sufficient money to pay off the debt and perform Hajj, there is nothing wrong with you performing Hajj and fulfilling the debt. In fact, it is obligatory for you based on the mentioned verse and the hadiths from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that convey its meaning.

And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a way
