The Ruling on Intravenous and Intramuscular Injections for the Fasting Person

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: What is the ruling for one who injects an intravenous or intramuscular injection during the day in the month of Ramadan while fasting and completes his fast? Does his fast become invalid and does he have to make it up, or not?

Answer: His fast is valid; because an intravenous injection is not of the same kind as eating and drinking, and likewise an intramuscular injection is even more so. However, if he makes it up as a precaution, that is better. And delaying it until night, if there is a need for it, is more preferable and safer; to avoid the disagreement regarding that. May Allah guide them all.
