The Ruling on the Use of Intravenous and Intramuscular Injections

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: What is the ruling on using intravenous injections and intramuscular injections, and what is the difference between them for a person who is fasting?

Answer: The correct view is that neither of them breaks the fast. Only nutritional injections break the fast. Similarly, drawing blood for analysis does not break the fast for the person fasting, because it is not like cupping. As for cupping, the one performing it and the one receiving it both break their fast according to the most correct opinion of the scholars, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The one who performs cupping and the one who is cupped break their fastأفطر الحاجم والمحجوم
