Explaining the importance of reliance upon Allah.
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now we have understood the categories of reliance upon Allah in terms of the ruling of obligation. But in terms of its status and rank in worship, we have understood that it is half of the religion, because Allah the Exalted mentions it as a companion to worship. We have also understood that it is among the highest stations, and that a person should—may Allah the Exalted help us and you—a person should always keep it before his eyes. Even in his ablution, his prayer, his eating, his drinking, and his clothing, in everything, he should be accompanied by reliance upon Allah in all his affairs, so that he becomes one of those who have fully realized reliance upon Allah. By this, he has realized this station. The Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "And it is not possible for the deniers of the divine attributes to rely upon Allah, nor for the Qadariyyah Mu'tazilah to rely upon Allah". This is because the deniers of the divine attributes believe in the absence of the attributes from Allah, and it is known that a person does not depend except on the One who is perfect in His attributes, the One who is worthy of being depended upon, (Glorified and Exalted is He). And these people deny the attributes; how can they depend? They do not realize reliance upon Allah. Likewise, the Qadariyyah who say that a person is independent in his actions; it is not possible for them to rely upon Allah. What is the reason? Because they say that Allah has no control over the actions of the servant; the servant is independent in all his actions. So these people also will never realize the station of reliance upon Allah. Yes, and thus we have come to know, and praise be to Allah who guided us, that the path of the Salaf, the people of the Sunnah and the community, is the best of paths, and it is the one by which all types of worship are gathered and all the states of the worshippers are completed.
