Q105: The questioner says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Musnad Ahmad 205[lts isnad is qawi] (Darussalam) the hadith. When is the question beneficial for the one who relies on Allah? And when does the Muslim rely on Allah with true reliance?
A105: Reliance upon Allah is among the greatest types of worship; Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Ma'idah 5:23], and He the Exalted said: [Ali 'Imran 3:122],
and He the Exalted said:[Ibrahim 14:12]; so reliance is a type of worship, and its meaning is: depending on Allah (Mighty and Majestic), entrusting matters to Him, while taking the beneficial causes. So do not rely on Allah and neglect the beneficial causes, but rather combine the two: combine performing the beneficial causes and relying on Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). This is what the hadith you mentioned points to: Musnad Ahmad 205[lts isnad is qawi] (Darussalam) Look at His saying: (it goes out) in it that the birds perform the causes; they do not stay in their nests for their provision to come to them in their nests; rather, they go out and seek provision, so they perform the causes that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) inspired in them.
If you were to put your trust in Allah as you should, you would be given provision like the birds
A105: Reliance upon Allah is among the greatest types of worship; Allah the Exalted said:
Said two men from those who feared [to disobey] upon whom Allah had bestowed favor, "Enter upon them through the gate, for when you have entered it, you will be predominant. And upon Allah rely, if you should be believers."
When two parties among you were about to lose courage, but Allah was their ally; and upon Allah the believers should rely.
إِذْ هَمَّتْ طَائِفَتَانِ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ تَفْشَلاَ وَاللَّهُ وَلِيُّهُمَا وَعَلَى اللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَand He the Exalted said:
And why should we not rely upon Allah while He has guided us to our [good] ways. And we will surely be patient against whatever harm you should cause us. And upon Allah let those who would rely [indeed] rely."
If you were to put your trust in Allah as you should, you would be given provision like the birds: they go out hungry in the morning and come back with full bellies in the evening.
