Continuation of the author's explanation and his statement: His saying: (Indeed, Allah is the Provider

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And clothing is provided, and not provided? It is provided, but in the general sense. Good.
As for the specific provision: it is what sustains the religion, namely beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds, and lawful provision that aids in the obedience of Allah. Look, lawful provision that aids in the obedience of Allah: this is a man who buys and sells to fulfill what is obligatory for himself in terms of saving himself from destruction, and what he does to save his family. We say this is specific provision. And for this reason, the noble verse came:
the Provider الرَّزَّاقُ
and it did not say "al-Raziq" (the Provider). It came in the form of exaggeration (mubalaghah) due to the abundance of His provision and the multitude of those He provides. The difference between the two is clear. The abundance of His provision is like this: a man whom Allah provides for every day, earning a hundred riyals, or two hundred, or a thousand, or two thousand. The one being provided for now, here, is the one being provided for. Is the one being provided for multiple? One, but the provision is multiple, abundant.
The multitude of those He provides for: He provides this one with a dirham, and this one with a dirham, and this one with a dirham, and this one with a dirham. This is the multitude of those being provided for. The one whom Allah the Exalted and Majestic provides for cannot be counted in terms of their kinds, let alone their types, let alone their individuals. Because Allah the Exalted says:
And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision, and He knows its place of dwelling and place of storage
[Hud 11:6]
(Glorified and Exalted is He). Every creature, even the ant, its provision is upon Allah. Even the small creature that you can barely see because of its smallness, its provision is upon Allah. Even to the point that you sometimes turn through books and find a small creature, a small insect that you can barely see with your eye, walking, yes, and taking refuge in these books. And who provides for it its shelter and what sustains its life? Allah the Exalted and Majestic.
And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision, and He knows its place of dwelling and place of storage
[Hud 11:6]
And glory be to Allah the Great. That means Allah gives the seeking of provision according to the situation. You find some insects know their provision by smell; they guide themselves to their provision by smell. They do not see it; they see the grass that they watch from afar, but by smell they detect it, even from afar. Glory be to Allah the Great. Because Allah says:
And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision
[Hud 11:6]
But if someone says, if Allah is the Provider, should I strive to seek provision, or should I stay in my house and provision will come to me? The first one: just as Allah is the Forgiving, it does not mean that because He is Forgiving you do not do what leads to forgiveness. He is the Merciful, so you must do what leads to mercy, or not? This is also the Provider, so you must do what leads to provision. And as for the saying of the poet:
"It is madness for one to strive for provision *** while the fetus is provided for in its darkness"
So is this statement correct or not? He says if you strive for provision, you are a madman. The madman, yes, the madman. And he cites this evidence, which is proof for it:
"It is madness for one to strive for provision *** while the fetus is provided for in its darkness"
The fetus in the womb, in the darkness, does not its mother put food in her mouth and give it to him, or not? Or its father? Allah the Exalted and Majestic provides for it. So if the fetus in the darkness, which no one can reach, is provided for, then you too should stay in your house, in the room, lock yourself up, and food, drink, and clothing will come to you. Yes, is this correct? No, in reality, only a madman does this. Good. If we bring up the case of the fetus to him, what do you answer him with?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Good, this is one aspect.
The student: Then he is not capable at all.

The Shaykh : Yes, he is not capable. The answer: It can be said that this is not something for which seeking provision can be directed. It is not said to the fetus, "Get out of the womb, you will find your provision." Yes, it is not possible, but the capable one is possible.
And a man told me, saying: I once tethered my camel at a well, a well with no water in the desert. He said when it was morning, a snake came out of the well, a blind snake that could not see. It raised its head like a stick. A bird came and landed on it, thinking it was a stick, and swallowed it. Glory be to Allah the Great. He said something like this is amazing. He said he left it, and it remained in that place. When it was late in the day, it did what it had done. A bird came and landed on it and ate it. Glory be to Allah the Great. Look, Allah is capable of everything. So in any case, yes, did you cause it? Yes, correct.
Yes, good. Also, the hadith that the brother Ali referred to:
If you were to put your trust in Allah as you should, you would be given provision like the birds: they go out hungry in the morning and come back with full bellies in the evening.
Musnad Ahmad 205[lts isnad is qawi] (Darussalam)
The birds go out from their nests hungry, meaning they are starving, they have nothing, their bellies are empty. They go out and return at the end of the day with full bellies, meaning their bellies are full. Glory be to Allah the Great. They do not go down to the market to sell and buy, no, but Allah the Exalted and Majestic provides for them. So if the One who provided for the birds in their nests and the snakes in their burrows provides for you, sit in your house, I say, but the birds go out, they walk, they go out hungry and return full. And for this reason, Allah the Exalted said:
It is He who made the earth tame for you - so walk among its slopes and eat of His
[Al-Mulk 67:15]
So work is necessary, striving is necessary, but in any case, this striving must be in accordance with the Shari'ah.
