Continuation of the explanation of the statement of Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding what he quoted: "."

The Shaykh : The birds’ provision is from Allah (Mighty and Majestic), because they are birds that have no owner. They fly in the air, go out to their nests, and seek the provision of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). The birds go out in the morning hungry. “Go out” means to depart at the beginning of the day, for the morning is the start of the day. “Hungry” means starving, as Allah the Exalted said:
But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
“in a state of hunger” means in a state of starvation.
They go out in the morning hungry
means starving, with nothing in their bellies, but they place their trust in their Lord (Mighty and Majestic). And they return in the evening full. “Return” means to come back at the end of the day, for the evening is the end of the day. “Full” means their bellies are filled with the provision of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). In this, there is evidence for several points:
First, it is incumbent upon a person to rely on Allah with true reliance.
Second, there is no creature on earth but its provision is from Allah, even the birds in the sky. No one holds them in the sky but Allah, and no one provides for them but Allah. Every creature on earth, from the smallest of creatures, the ant, to the largest, the elephants and their like, every creature on earth, its provision is from Allah, as Allah the Exalted said:
And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision, and He knows its place of dwelling and place of storage
[Hud 11:6]
And he has certainly gone astray, a clear astray, the one who has a bad opinion of his Lord and said: “Do not have many children, lest your provisions become narrow for you.” They lied, by the Lord of the Throne. If they have many children, Allah increases their provision, because there is no creature on earth but its provision is from Allah. The provision of your children and offspring is from Allah (Mighty and Majestic). He is the One who opens the doors of provision for you so that you may spend on them. But most people, indeed, many people, have a bad opinion of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and rely on visible material matters, without looking to the long term or turning to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), who is the One who provides. If the children increase, the provisions increase for you. This is the correct view.
In this, there is also evidence that when a person places his trust in Allah with true trust, he should take the means. And he has certainly gone astray who said: “I will not take the means, and I am placing my trust [in Allah].” This is not correct. The one who places his trust is the one who takes the means while relying on Allah (Mighty and Majestic). For this reason, he said:
like the birds: They go out hungry in the morning
Sunan Ibn Majah 4164Hasan (Darussalam)
“They go out” means they go to seek provision. The birds are not in their nests, but they go out and seek provision. So if you place your trust in Allah with true trust, you must take the means that Allah has prescribed for you for seeking provision from lawful sources: by farming, by trade, by working, or by any of the means of provision. Seek provision, seek provision, relying on Allah, and Allah will make provision easy for you.
In this, there is evidence, and among the benefits of this hadith, is that birds and other creations of Allah know Allah. They know Allah, yes, as Allah the Exalted said:
The seven heavens and the earth and whatever is in them exalt Him. And there is not a thing except that it exalts [Allah] by His praise
[Al-Isra 17:44]
meaning there is nothing but it glorifies with the praise of Allah.
but you do not understand their [way of] exalting
[Al-Isra 17:44]
Do you not see that to Allah prostrates whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth and the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees, the moving creatures and many of the people? But upon many the punishment has been justified. And he whom Allah humiliates - for him there is no bestower of honor. Indeed, Allah does what He wills.
[Al-Hajj 22:18]
So the birds know their Creator (Mighty and Majestic) and fly to seek provision by the nature with which Allah created them, by which they are guided to their interests. They go out to their nests, and at the end of the day their bellies are full, and so on, every day. And Allah (Mighty and Majestic) provides for them and makes provision easy for them. Look at the wisdom of Allah: how these birds go out to distant places and are guided back to their locations without missing them, because Allah (Mighty and Majestic) gave every thing its form and then guided it. And success is from Allah.
