Continuation of the explanation of the author's statement: They are the middle path in the chapter on the actions of Allah between the Jabriyyah and the Qadariyyah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Absolute choice. These last groups are called the Majus of this Ummah, the Majus of this Ummah. Why? Because they claimed that there are two creators of events: the cosmic events belong to Allah, He is the one who created them, and the events that are the actions of man
The student: The actions of man
The Shaykh : The actions of man are independent of them, just as the Majus say that the world has two creators, or two creators: darkness and light. Light is the creator of good, and darkness is the creator
The student: evil.
The Shaykh : of evil. The people of the Sunnah and the community said, "We are the middle path between you. We say that the action of the servant is by the will of Allah and the creation of Allah, and it is impossible that there be in the dominion of Allah anything that He does not will. Is this correct or not?"
The student: Yes.
The Shaykh : Correct. And we say again that man has choice and will. A distinction is made between the action to which one is compelled and the action one chooses. A distinction is made between a companion coming to you and saying, "O so-and-so, let us go out and walk together," and you agree, and a person being forced, his hand being held until he is taken out to the open land. Is there a difference or not? He finds the difference. So they said that the actions of the servants are by their choice and their will, and yet they occur by the will of Allah and the creation of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. But a problem remains with us: how can they be the creation of Allah and yet the action of man? We say, your actions issued from you, did they not?
The student: Yes.
The Shaykh : By will and power, by will and power, yes
The student: And will
The Shaykh : The will is the desire, my brother. It is the desire. By will and power. Who created the will in you?
The student: Allah
The Shaykh : Allah, Mighty and Majestic. And the one who created the power in you is Allah. If Allah the Exalted had willed, He would have stripped you of power, so you would not be able to do it. You desire with all your volitional strength, but you cannot. If a person with a limp wanted to walk, the one with the limp, meaning he wanted to walk and said, "I swear by Allah, I would like to go out today and walk without a cane and without anything," can he or cannot he?
The student: He cannot
The Shaykh : He cannot, because the power was not created in him. And if a capable person wanted to do something, he did not do it because he did not want to. If a capable person did an action without will, it is impossible. Every capable person who does an action does it by his will, except one who is forced. So we say, we do it by our choice and our power, and the one who created the choice in us is Allah, and the one who created the power in us is Allah. If He had willed, He would have diverted the resolve. Sometimes a person is determined to do this thing, resolute, certainly, and then
The student: ...
The Shaykh : his resolve weakens. And sometimes his resolve does not weaken, but he forgets. He forgets and says, "I swear by Allah, I wanted to do something, but I forgot what it was." Allah, Mighty and Majestic, makes him forget it, so he does not do it. So our action occurs by the will of Allah and His creation, and thus it is a creation of Allah, Mighty and Majestic.
Praise be to the Lord of the worlds, and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions
The author mentioned that the people of the Sunnah and the community believe in what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us about his Lord, as they believe in what Allah informed us in His Book. Yes. So what is the evidence, O Husayn, for the obligation of believing in what the Messenger informed us of?
The student: What the Messenger informed us of
The Shaykh : Yes. What is the evidence for the obligation of believing in what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us of, just as it is obligatory to believe in what Allah informed us of?
The student: The saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
The Shaykh : Yes
The student: I do not find any of you leaning on your couch saying, "We do not find this in the Book of Allah..."
The Shaykh : The command comes to him from Me
The student: The command comes to him from Me, and he says, "We do not find in the Book of Allah what we found, so we acted upon it"
The Shaykh : In the Book of Allah, we followed it
The student: We followed it. "Indeed, I was given the Qur'an and something similar to it with it"
The Shaykh : Good. Is there not a verse from the Qur'an as well? Khalid
The student: The saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic:[An-Nisa 4:136]
The Shaykh : What is the indication?
The student: The indication is that it commands belief in what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) brought
The Shaykh : Believe in Allah and His Messenger
The student: Yes.
The Shaykh : Very well.
The student: And belief in the Messenger is not complete except by believing in what he informed us of regarding the names and attributes
The Shaykh : Good. Yes
The student: His saying, the Exalted:[Al-Hashr 59:7]
The Shaykh : Good. In verses
The student: And obey Allah
The student:[An-Nisa 4:115]
The Shaykh :[An-Nisa 4:115] That is enough. Jamal, the actions of Allah extend to the actions of man, meaning that the actions of man are by the will of Allah the Exalted and His creation, and they deny for man
The student: The will.
The Shaykh : will and action. The Qadariyyah are the opposite; they say that the will of Allah and the creation of Allah do not extend to man, so man is independent in his will and his action. So they excluded the will of Allah the Exalted and His creation from the actions of the servants.
The people of the Sunnah combined the two matters. They said, the action of the servant is connected to the will of Allah and the creation of Allah, and the will of man
The student: And his action
The Shaykh : And the action of man. It is clear, I think. So they took the truth from these people and the truth from those people. This has an independent discussion in an independent chapter in 'Aqeedah. For this reason, we do not lengthen the discussion here, because it will come to us, if Allah wills, in an independent discussion. But the important thing is that the people of the Sunnah and the community are the middle path between these two groups. Good.
