Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"And the Day of Resurrection will occur, which Allah has informed us of in His Book, and on the tongue of His Messenger, and upon which the Muslims have reached consensus".
"The Day of Resurrection will occur, which Allah has informed us of in His Book". This Day of Resurrection is mentioned by Allah (Mighty and Majestic) with great descriptions that necessitate fear and preparation for it.
So Allah the Exalted said:
(1) O mankind, fear your Lord. Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing. (2) On the Day you see it every nursing mother will be distracted from that [child] she was nursing, and every pregnant woman will abort her pregnancy, and you will see the people [appearing] intoxicated while they are not intoxicated; but the punishment of Allah is severe.
[Al-Hajj 22:1-2]
.
And Allah the Exalted said:
(1) The Inevitable Reality - (2) What is the Inevitable Reality? (3) And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality?
[Al-Haqqah 69:1-3]
.
And Allah the Exalted said:
(2) What is the Striking Calamity? (3) And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity? (4) It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed, (5) And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up.
[Al-Qari'ah 101:2-5]
.
The descriptions of it in the Qur'an are numerous, all of them terrifying and frightening, because it is immense. And if we do not believe in it, we will not work for it, for it is not possible for a person to work for this Day until he believes in it, and until its descriptions that necessitate working for this Day are mentioned to him.
Therefore he says: "Allah has informed us of it in His Book". We say: And He mentioned it with great descriptions that shake the hearts and necessitate fear and preparation.
Likewise, on the tongue of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). The hadiths regarding the mention of the Day of Resurrection are numerous. The Messenger (may Allah pray upon him and grant him peace) clarified what will happen in it, as will come, if Allah wills, in the mention of the Pool, the Sirat, the Book, and other things that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified. These are two proofs.
The third proof: He said: "And upon which the Muslims have reached consensus". The Muslims have reached consensus on this Day, on the existence of the Day of Resurrection. Therefore, whoever denies it is a disbeliever. Whoever denies the Day of Resurrection is a disbeliever, except if he is a stranger to Islam and ignorant, in which case he is taught. If he persists in denial after that, he is a disbeliever.
We also say: The heavenly books have reached consensus on it. This is a fourth proof that the heavenly books agreed on affirming the Last Day. Therefore, the Jews and the Christians believe in it; they believe in the Last Day, and they still believe in it to this day. Therefore, you hear them say: "So-and-so, the deceased," or "may Allah have mercy on him," or similar phrases, which indicate that they believe in the Last Day to this day.
The fourth proof, or the fifth? The fifth: Reason, for reason indicates the existence of the Last Day.
The aspect of this is: If this Day did not exist, the creation of the creatures would be in vain, and Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is free from vanity.
What is the wisdom in a people who are created, commanded, prohibited, obligated with what they are obligated, and encouraged to what they are encouraged, then they die with no reckoning and no punishment? Yes. Is there any wisdom? No, and Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is free from vanity.
Therefore He said:
(115) Then did you think that We created you uselessly and that to Us you would not be returned?" (116) So exalted is Allah, the Sovereign, the Truth; there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne. أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ عَبَثاً وَأَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْنَا لا تُرْجَعُونَ * فَتَعَالَى اللَّهُ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ لا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ
[Al-Mu'minun 23:115-116]
.
We did not create in vain, and we will not return to Allah.
And Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, [O Muhammad], He who imposed upon you the Qur'an will take you back to a place of return
[Al-Qasas 28:85]
.
How is the Qur'an made obligatory and the action upon it made obligatory, then there is no resurrection in which we are held accountable for what we carried out of this Qur'an that was made obligatory upon us?
So the proofs for the establishment of the Last Day—O Muhammad Nur—how many are they?
The student: Five.

The Shaykh : Five. Count them?
The student: The Book, the Sunnah, consensus, reason, and the heavenly books.

The Shaykh : The other heavenly books. Good.
So the Day of Resurrection is established and necessary, and no one denies it except a stubborn denier or a foolish madman who knows nothing about the wisdoms.
