The Shaykh : All right, he said: "Believing in everything the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us about that occurs after death": All of this falls under belief in the Last Day, because when a person dies, he enters the Last Day. For this reason, it is said that when a person dies, his Day of Resurrection has come.
It is said that the Resurrection is of two kinds: minor and major. The major one is the general one for all people, and the minor one is the death of every individual, for when he dies, his Day of Resurrection has come, because he has ended his life in this world and has now entered a dwelling. Which dwelling? The dwelling of recompense. He has entered the dwelling of recompense.
So everything that happens after death is part of the Last Day.
So how close the Last Day is to us! Is it not so? There is nothing between us and it except that a person dies and then enters the Last Day. The Last Day is one in which there is no action, only recompense for actions.
For this reason, it is obligatory for us to pay attention to this point, or as the later scholars say, this issue. When a person thinks about it, you find that you are in danger, because death does not have a specified term for us. It has a specified term with Allah, but not with us.
A person may leave his house and not return to it. A person may be sitting in his office chair and not rise from it. A person may sleep on his bed, but he is carried from his bed to his washing bed.
This is something that does not require establishing evidence, and it is a matter that requires us to seize the opportunity of life by repenting to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and for a person to always be aware that he is repenting to Allah, returning to Him, and turning to Him, until his term comes and he is in the best of conditions, otherwise he is in danger.
