Is continuity required in fasting the six days of Shawwal?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: Is it obligatory that the six days of Shawwal be fasted consecutively, or is there no harm in fasting them separately throughout the month?

Answer: Fasting six days of Shawwal is a recommended practice (sunnah) established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and it is permissible to fast them consecutively or separately; because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned fasting them without specifying continuity or separation, where he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
He who observed the fast of Ramadan and then followed it with six (fasts) of Shawwal. it would be as if he fasted perpetually.من صام رمضان ثم أتبعه ستًا من شوال كان كصيام الدهر
Sahih Muslim 1164a
. It was narrated by Imam Muslim in his Sahih. And success is from Allah.
