One who dies in his illness owes no making up of fasts and no feeding

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: My mother was ill, and she broke her fast in Ramadan. What is required of her?

Answer: If a Muslim breaks his fast in Ramadan due to illness and dies in that illness, he owes nothing, neither making up the fasts nor feeding; because he is excused and was unable to make them up.
As for if he recovers and then is negligent, it is prescribed for his closest relatives to make up the fasts on his behalf, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: If anyone dies in a state (that he had to complete) some fasts, his heir must fast on his behalf.من مات وعليه صيام صام عنه وليه
Sahih Muslim 1147
If they do not fast, they should feed on his behalf from his estate, one poor person for each day. The amount is half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of the staple food of the land, which is approximately one and a half kilograms. There is no harm in giving the entire expiation to one poor person.
