The Ruling on Expiation for Hunting by Intentional Killing?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: Is expiation obligatory for hunting by intentional killing?

Answer: Expiation is obligatory for one who intentionally kills game while in the state of ihram, or kills it in the sacred precinct, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
O you who have believed, do not kill game while you are in the state of ihram. And whoever of you kills it intentionally - the penalty is an equivalent from sacrificial animals to what he killedيَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ لاَ تَقْتُلُواْ الصَّيْدَ وَأَنتُمْ حُرُمٌ وَمَن قَتَلَهُ مِنكُم مُّتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَاء مِّثْلُ مَا قَتَلَ مِنَ النَّعَمِ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:95]
the verse [al-Ma'idah: 95].
The majority of scholars equated the one who makes a mistake with the one who acts intentionally; because, in their view, destruction is the same whether intentional or not. However, the clear text of the Qur'an indicates that expiation is not obligatory except for the one who acts intentionally, and this is the more apparent view. This is because a person in ihram may be afflicted with this without intent, especially after the existence of cars. And Allah the Exalted said:
Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardshipيُرِيدُ اللّهُ بِكُمُ الْيُسْرَ وَلاَ يُرِيدُ بِكُمُ الْعُسْرَ
[al-Baqarah: 185].
