It is permissible for a woman to enter the state of ihram in any clothing, provided there is no fitnah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: Is it permissible for a woman to enter the state of ihram in whatever clothing she wishes?

Answer: Yes, she may enter the state of ihram in whatever she wishes. She does not have specific clothing for ihram, as some of the general public think. Her ihram should be in clothing that is not eye-catching, contains no fitnah, and is not beautiful, but rather ordinary; because she mixes with people. If she enters the state of ihram in beautiful clothing, her ihram is valid, but she has left what is best.
It is best for a man to enter the state of ihram in two white garments: an izar and a rida. If he enters the state of ihram in anything other than white, there is no harm. It is established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he performed tawaf in a green cloak. It is also established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he wore a black turban when he entered Mecca in the Year of the Conquest.
So the conclusion is that there is no harm in entering the state of ihram in a garment that is not white, but white is the best, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Wear the white among your garments, for indeed they are among the best of your garments, and shroud your dead in them.البسوا من ثيابكم البياض، فإنها من خير ثيابكم وكفنوا فيها موتاكم
