Question: What is the ruling on the money that is placed in the bank for the heirs?
Answer: From Abdulaziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz, to the honorable brother / A. H., Arab Republic of Egypt, Dakahlia Governorate, al-Matariyyah. May Allah grant you understanding.
Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings. After that:
In response to your letter, in which you ask about the money that was placed in the bank for you after your father's death, we inform you: there is no blame on you in taking the money that was placed in the bank for your father, which is between you and the other heirs, unless the state has directives regarding it; in that case, you must follow them. As for the usury, it is to be spent in the ways of righteousness; such as charity to the poor, and the like of good deeds.
It is not permissible for you or the heirs to consume it. Attached is a copy of al-'Aqidah al-Wasitiyyah, Fath al-Majid, Luma'at al-'Aqidah, and al-Usul al-Thalathah, a copy of the first and second parts of the fatwas issued by us, and a copy of Ibn Abi al-'Izz's commentary on al-'Aqidah al-Tahawiyyah. All of these are beneficial books.
May Allah guide us and you to beneficial knowledge and acting upon it, along with righteous deeds that bring us closer to the pleasure of Allah and His mercy.
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
