Question:
After this, a long letter was sent by one of the listening sisters, who describes herself as confused in her matter: (F. A.) from the city of Amalad. Our sister began her letter as follows: In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. May peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you, Your Eminence, Shaykh Abdul Aziz ibn Baz (may Allah preserve him). I am a follower of the program *Nur 'ala al-Darb* and am very keen to listen to it. I thank you, Your Eminence, for what you do in serving Islam and Muslims. I present to you my problem, which I suffer from due to the reproach of my conscience, and it is summarized as follows:
My deceased mother had four daughters and two sons. Before her passing, she lived in my home, and I was the one who served her and cared for her. After her death, she left a sum of money, approximately one thousand riyals, and six gold bracelets. Due to my complete ignorance and because I did not ask my siblings about what my mother left, I disposed of the money and the gold pieces. Now, after four years have passed, and upon listening to religious programs, I realized that my siblings have a right to what our mother left. I am currently unable to give them their share due to my extreme poverty and because they do not need it. Until now, I have not informed them of what their mother left, out of fear of their demanding it. Knowing that I am a woman, she describes herself and says: Knowing that I am a righteous woman, and I fear Allah and am afraid of Him, what do you advise me to do? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
You must repent to Allah for what you did. You must repent to Allah for what you did. And you must inform them. Perhaps they will permit it—if Allah wills. If they do not permit it, then when you are able, give them their rights. For Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) says:
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacityلا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا
[al-Baqarah: 286] And He says, Exalted is He:
And if someone is in hardship, then [let there be] postponement until [a time of] easeوَإِنْ كَانَ ذُو عُسْرَةٍٍ فَنَظِرَةٌ إِلَى مَيْسَرَةٍ
[al-Baqarah: 280]. They have their right to what the mother left of the bracelets and the dirhams, unless they permit it. If they permit it, or some of them, then praise be to Allah. And whoever does not permit it, it is obligatory for you to give him his right when you are able, even after a period of time. And you must fear Allah in this... truthfulness and seriousness until you deliver their rights to them, unless everyone permits it, or some of them do. And whoever permits it, may Allah reward him with good. And whoever does not permit it, it is obligatory for you to fear Allah and to give him his right. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
