Ruling on working in a place that requires shaving the beard
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: If I want to take a job that requires me to shave my beard, what should I do?
Answer: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:Sunan Abi Dawud 2625Sahih (Al-Albani). And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Mishkat al-Masabih 3696.
So you must fear Allah, and not agree to this condition. The doors of sustenance are many, praise be to Allah, and they are not closed, but open. And Allah says: [Al-Talaq: 2].
And any job that requires disobedience to Allah, do not agree to it, whether this job is in the military or in any other work. So leave that job and seek another job in what Allah has made lawful, and do not cooperate in sin and aggression; for Allah says: [Al-Ma'idah: 2]. We hope for you and for us success by the permission of Allah.
And it is obligatory upon the rulers and upon all those responsible in the Islamic states, that they fear Allah, and do not compel people to do what Allah has forbidden them, and that they rule by the Shari'ah of Allah in everything they do and command; for Allah the Exalted says: [An-Nisa: 65]. And Allah says: [Al-Ma'idah: 50]. And He (Exalted and Majestic is He) says: [An-Nisa: 59].
So it is obligatory to obey Allah and His Messenger, and whatever is unclear among the matters of people is referred to Allah and His Messenger. So what Allah mentioned in His Noble Book, or what is in the pure Sunnah from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), it is obligatory to take it and implement it.
This is the obligation of those responsible in the matter of beards, and in the matter of riba, and in the matter of judging between people, and in all matters; they must rule by the Shari'ah of Allah, and that, by Allah, is the path to their honor, and the path to their salvation, and it is the path to their safety in this world and the Hereafter. And they will not attain complete honor and the complete pleasure of Allah except by obeying Him and following His Shari'ah. We ask Allah for us and for them success in what pleases Him.
Answer: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:
Obedience is in matters which are good and universally recognized.
A creature is not to be obeyed when it involves disobedience to the "Creator.”
So you must fear Allah, and not agree to this condition. The doors of sustenance are many, praise be to Allah, and they are not closed, but open. And Allah says:
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out
And any job that requires disobedience to Allah, do not agree to it, whether this job is in the military or in any other work. So leave that job and seek another job in what Allah has made lawful, and do not cooperate in sin and aggression; for Allah says:
And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression.
And it is obligatory upon the rulers and upon all those responsible in the Islamic states, that they fear Allah, and do not compel people to do what Allah has forbidden them, and that they rule by the Shari'ah of Allah in everything they do and command; for Allah the Exalted says:
But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muhammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full, willing] submission.
Then is it the judgement of [the time of] ignorance they desire? But who is better than Allah in judgement for a people who are certain [in faith].
O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result.
