The danger of seclusion with a female servant

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: I am a person who works in one of the government departments, and my wife works as a teacher. We have children, praise be to Allah. So we brought in a female servant from abroad without a mahram (a relative one may not marry). What is the ruling?

Answer: The presence of a female servant in a house where only the wife is present is dangerous; the most cautious course for you is not to request a servant, for she may be left alone with you, and harm may occur between you, her, and your wife. However, if there are two servants, that is more cautious, or if your mother or sisters other than your wife are in the house, that is easier.
As for the mahram, a mahram is necessary if that is feasible; a mahram is necessary. It is obligatory for her family not to send her except with a mahram, and you must adhere to that if Allah makes it easy; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) generalized and said:
A woman should not travel except with a Dhu-Mahramلا تسافر المرأة إلا مع ذي محرم
Sahih al-Bukhari 1862
It is obligatory for her family not to send her except with a mahram, but the common practice among them is greed and lack of concern; they send her like this. We ask Allah for safety.
