Ruling on teachers accepting gifts from students

Question: Is it permissible for a female teacher to accept a gift from her students? If it is not permissible for her to do so, is it permissible to accept it after the end of the school year and the delivery of the results? And if that is also not permissible, is it permissible for her to accept it from the students after her period of teaching at that school has ended, if she intends to move from this school to another?

Answer: It is obligatory for the female teacher to refrain from accepting gifts, because they may lead her to injustice, to not being sincere in her dealings with those who did not give her a gift, and to favoring the giver and cheating. Therefore, it is obligatory for the teacher not to accept any gift from the students at all, because that may lead to consequences that are not praiseworthy. The believing man and the believing woman must be cautious regarding their religion and avoid the causes of suspicion and danger. As for after she moves from the school to another school, there is no harm in that, because the suspicion has ended at that time and the danger is safe. Likewise, after she is dismissed from her job or retires, if they give her something, there is nothing wrong with it.
