Permissibility of tubal ligation to prevent pregnancy out of necessity

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: His Eminence Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Baz, the Mufti of the Saudi Region, may Allah preserve him.
Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:
I am a married woman who suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes. When I become pregnant, I cannot give birth without great fatigue and hardship, because the delivery is not natural but requires a surgical operation and an incision in the abdomen. Therefore, the doctors have decided to perform a tubal ligation, which means I will no longer be able to bear children. This is scheduled for next Saturday, corresponding to 11/11/1419 AH. My husband agrees to the operation, but the hospital administration has asked me to bring a fatwa from you before the procedure is performed.
I hope you will answer my question urgently. May Allah not deprive you of reward and Paradise, and may He guide you to what is good in this world and the Hereafter.

Answer: And upon you be peace, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:
If the situation is as described in the question above, there is no objection to tubal ligation, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
It was narrated from 'Ubadah bin Samit that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ruled: “There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm.”لا ضر ولا ضرار
Sunan Ibn Majah 2340Da'if (Darussalam)
. May Allah guide everyone to what pleases Him, and may peace and the mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you.
