The reciter: And Muhammad ibn Rafi' narrated to me, and 'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, and Ibn Jurayj informed us, and Musa ibn 'Uqbah informed me, from Abu al-Nadr, from: .
The Shaykh : This is his saying:Sahih al-Bukhari 7237, as we have said, as long as a person is in safety, it is safety. And wishing to meet the enemy may stem from a person's self-admiration, thinking he is brave and capable of killing his enemy, and this is a cause for being abandoned [by Allah]. But when he meets the enemy, let him be patient.
In this is also evidence that it is not befitting for people to head toward the enemy at the beginning of the battle, because this may cause hardship. But after the sun has declined, when the winds blow, that is the best time for an attack. However, this varies according to circumstances, times, and weapons, and every situation has its ruling. It may be that in the present time, an attack in the middle of the day is more beneficial, or it may be at the beginning of the day, or at the end of it.
In it is the prescription of this supplication:. He began by seeking nearness to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) through the sending down of the Book, because the foundation of jihad is to honor the religion that this great Book brought.
, because in the Book is the life of hearts, and in the clouds is the life of the earth and vegetation.
. He sought nearness to Allah by His being the one who defeated the confederates, because the occasion required that. And he began (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) with their defeat before the victory, because victory does not occur except after defeat; so he defeats the confederates first, and the victory for the Muslims comes second.
The book of a man from Aslam, one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who is called: 'Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa. He wrote to 'Umar ibn 'Abd Allah when he set out against the Khawarij, informing him: that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was on one of the days when he met the enemy, waiting until the sun had declined, then he stood among them and said: "O people, do not wish to meet the enemy, and ask Allah for safety. But when you meet them, be patient, and know that Paradise is under the shadows of the swords." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood and said: "O Allah, You who sent down the Book, You who drive the clouds, and You who defeated the confederates, defeat them and grant us victory over them."
The Shaykh : This is his saying:
