Explanation of the author's statement: "… except for one who intends to combine…"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The author said: "… except for one who intends to combine", meaning except for one who intends to combine the prayers, and we add another condition: he must be someone for whom it is permissible to combine as one who intends to combine, and for whom combining is permissible. If one who is not permitted to combine intends to combine, this does not benefit him… And if one who is permitted to combine intends to combine, it is permissible for him to delay the first prayer until the time of the second prayer. This exception is, in reality, similar to being formalistic, because when combining the two prayers is permitted, their two times become one time. Thus, the one who delayed the first prayer until the time of the second has prayed it within its time. It is not said that he delayed it from its time, because when the cause for combining exists, this cause makes the two times one time. However, in reality, the delay is formalistic, because for example, if a person delays the Zuhr prayer until the time of 'Asr and combines it with it, the time for Zuhr has passed. The same is said regarding the Maghrib prayer with 'Isha'. This is one point. All right.
