What is the ruling on using the vinegar known today, and is it the vinegar referred to in the hadith (Vinegar is a good condiment), or is it the one found among intoxicants?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : There are several questions, O Shaykh!

The Shaykh : One question!

The questioner : One?

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Yes, well, what is the ruling on vinegar in Islam?

The Shaykh : Vinegar?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : A somewhat strange question.

The questioner : Do you mean the substance of vinegar?

The Shaykh : Do you not know the saying of the Messenger of Allah:
Vinegar is a good condiment نِعْمَ الإدَامُ الخَلُّ
?

The questioner : But is this vinegar the vinegar that is known?

The Shaykh : Or something else?! It is the same.

The questioner : It is the same?

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : I mean, what is the difference between it and, I mean, intoxication?

The Shaykh : May Allah guide you, this is khamr (intoxicants), may Allah guide you.

The questioner : I mean, do you understand my question?

The Shaykh : Do you understand your own question?!

The questioner : No, I mean, is this vinegar that exists with us now the same vinegar that was in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?

The Shaykh : I answered you, may Allah guide you, it appears that you did not understand the answer?

The questioner : I did not understand.

The Shaykh : I told you: Yes, the vinegar that exists today is the vinegar that has existed in all times.

The questioner : Okay, may Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : And may Allah protect you, if Allah wills.
