Should we not say that the implementation of hudud (the fixed Qur'anic punishments) in mosques is a form of dhikr (the remembrance of Allah)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Should we not say that the implementation of hudud (the fixed Qur'anic punishments) in mosques is a form of dhikr (the remembrance of Allah)?

The Shaykh : No, it is not a form of dhikr. By dhikr, we mean what is done in which one remembers his Lord. As for this, it is a punishment. It has been reported that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the implementation of hudud (the fixed Qur'anic punishments) in mosques and the recitation of poetry therein. However, the hadith is weak, so we turned away from it and used the authentic hadith found in Muslim.
