Holding Celebrations in Mosques

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 9553 )
Q: The young people in our town are wavering in their ruling on marriage in the mosque. Is it a Sunnah or an innovation? The hadith is:
Announce this marriage and hold it in the mosque and beat the hand drum for itأعلنوا هذا النكاح واجعلوه في المسجد واضربوا عليه بالدف
. We want to know the authenticity of this hadith, especially the phrase:
Hold it in the mosquesاجعلوه في المساجد
. Is holding marriage in mosques a Sunnah or an innovation? We also want the names of the books and the chains of narration for tracing this hadith. Al-Tirmidhi mentioned in the book (Fiqh al-Sunnah) that it is a good hadith, so we ask your Eminence to comment on this so that the ruling becomes clear to people; because they hold celebrations in mosques and consider it one of the Sunnahs of the Messenger

A: First: This hadith was narrated by Al-Tirmidhi with his chain, saying: It was narrated to us
Ahmad ibn Munayyirnarrated to usYazid ibn Harun, informed usIsa ibn Maimun al-Ansari,fromal-Qasim ibn Muhammad, fromAisha(may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Announce this marriage, hold it in the mosques, and beat the hand drum for it." Then he said: This is a strange, good hadith in this chapter, and Isa ibn Maimun al-Ansariis considered weak in hadith, and Isa ibn Maimunwho narrates fromIbn Abi Najihregarding tafsir is trustworthy, and al-Bayhaqi also narrated this hadithal-Bayhaqi,and in its chain of narrationKhalid ibn Ilyas, who is a denouncer of hadith.Second:the Shari'ah encourages the public announcement of the marriage contract. As for contracting the marriage in the mosque, it is not a recommended practice, and the hadith mentioned is not a proof; rather, it is weak due to the weakness ofIsa ibn Maimun al-Ansariand Khalid ibn Ilyas. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
