The questioner : I traveled to Makkah for the sake of 'Umrah, and when I arrived on the first day of my arrival in Makkah, I prayed 'Asr as two rak'ahs, shortening it, knowing that I would stay in Makkah for more than a week. Am I correct? Please inform us, may you be rewarded.

The Shaykh : Yes, he is correct, because the stronger position indicated by the evidence is that there is no limit to residence that ends the state of travel; rather, a person is a traveler as long as he has left his country and has not intended to reside in the country he has arrived in.
Accordingly, we say that his action is correct, and likewise, if such a thing happens, there is nothing wrong with it.
