Explanation of the words of Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding what he quoted: "

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
In the conclusion of this great hadith, which contains a lesson for whoever takes heed, there is the fact that the disbelieving king who called people to worship him, when the people believed and said, "We believe in Allah, the Lord of the boy," the people of evil and the people of hatred toward faith and its people came to him and said to him: "O King, what you were afraid of has happened, and that is belief in Allah." He was afraid of that, for he had, may Allah protect us from that, made himself a god, just as Pharaoh did, and he was a tyrannical, oppressive king. So he ordered the trenches to be dug at the mouths of the roads, and they were dug. The trenches mean deep ditches like irrigation canals, at the mouths of the roads meaning at the ends of the alleys and streets. And he said to his soldiers:
Whoever came and did not turn back from his religion, throw him into it مَن جاء ولم يرجع عن دينه فأقمحوه فيها
: because he had kindled fires in them, may Allah protect us from that. So the people would come, but they did not turn back from their religion and their faith, so they would throw them into the fire. Whoever did not turn back from his true religion, which is belief in Allah, they threw him into the fire. But when they threw them into the fire and they were burned by it, they would transition from the abode of delusion and desolation to the abode of bliss and stability, because the angels would take their souls while they were in a good state, saying: "Peace be upon you, enter Paradise for what you used to do." And there is nothing greater than this patience: that a person sees the fire blazing and jumps into it out of fear for his faith and patience for it.
So a woman came with her boy, an infant boy. When she saw the fires, it was as if she hesitated to jump into the fire with her child. So the child said to her: "O my mother, be patient, for you are upon the truth" فجاءت امرأة ومعها صبي ، صبي رضيع ، فلما رأت النيران كأنها تقاعست أن تقتحم النار هي وطفلها ، فقال لها الطفل : يا أماه اصبري فإنك على الحق
, he says, and he was small and did not speak, but Allah, who gave speech to everything, gave him speech. And it was a karamah (a miracle granted to a righteous person) for this mother, that Allah gave her son speech so that she would be able to jump into the fire and remain upon her faith, because the speech of this infant in the cradle is a great sign. And this infant testified that his mother was upon the truth, so she was patient and jumped into the fire. And this is among the signs of Allah, and it is evidence that Allah the Exalted saves those who fear Him by their escape; no evil will touch them.
