The Shaykh : Until Hatib ibn Abi Balta'ah (may Allah be pleased with him), when what happened with his letter to the people of Makkah occurred, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to fight them in the Battle of the Conquest, he (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to the people of Makkah to inform them. But Allah revealed it to His Prophet; Allah revealed it to the Prophet. Hatib (may Allah be pleased with him) sent the letter with a woman. He sent it with a woman, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed of it through revelation. So he sent 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) and one other with him, until they caught up with her in a meadow called Rawdat Khakh. They seized her and said to her: "Where is the letter?" She said: "I have no letter with me." They said: "Where is the letter? You have a letter with you, by Allah, we have not lied nor have we been lied to. Where is the letter? You will either produce it or we will strip you of your clothes."
