Explanation of the words of Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding what he quoted: "

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : After that, we have previously spoken about what is possible regarding what will occur on the Day of Resurrection. Among this is that the sun will approach the creatures until it is a mile above their heads, and that those whom Allah will shade in His shade on the Day when there is no shade except His shade are an exception to this, and we have explained this.
However, there is a matter here that I would like to point out, which is that some students think that the shade meant in "in His shade on the Day when there is no shade except His shade" is the shade of the Lord, Mighty and Majestic. This is a very wrong assumption, and only an ignorant person would assume it. This is because it is known that people are on earth, and this shade comes from the sun, from the sun. If it were assumed that the shade of the Lord, Glorified and Exalted, is meant, it would follow that the sun is above Allah to be a barrier between it and the people. This is something impossible and cannot happen, because Allah, Glorified and Exalted, has established for Himself absolute elevation in all directions. But what is meant is a shade that Allah creates on that Day to shade those who deserve that Allah shade them in His shade. And Allah attributed it to Himself because on that Day, no one can shade by the action of a created thing; there is no building there or anything placed on heads. Rather, the shade will be what Allah creates for His servants on that Day. Therefore, Allah attributed it to Himself because it is specific to Him.
And among what will occur on that Day is the spreading of the registers, meaning the scrolls of deeds that were written for a person in his life. This is because Allah, Glorified and Exalted, assigned two angels to every person, one on the right and the second on the left, as Allah, Blessed and Exalted, said:
and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein (17) When the two receivers receive, seated on the right and on the left. (18) Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record].
[Qaf 50:16-18]
These two noble angels write down everything a person does in speech or action. As for what he tells himself, it is not written against him, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Allah, the Most High, has forgiven my followers what they contemplate on within themselves (i.e. evil thoughts) as long as they do not act upon or speak about them.
Bulugh al-Maram 8:133
But speech and action are written; the writer of good deeds is on the right, and the writer of bad deeds is on the left. They write whenever they are commanded to write. When the Day of Resurrection comes, every person will be forced to have this book around his neck, as the Exalted said:
And [for] every person We have imposed his fate upon his neck
[Al-Isra 17:13]
And this book will be brought out for him, and it will be said:
[It will be said], "Read your record. Sufficient is yourself against you this Day as accountant."
[Al-Isra 17:14]
He will read it, and it will become clear from this spread book of the people who will take it with his right hand, and who will take it with his left hand from behind his back. As for the one who takes it with his right hand, and I ask Allah to make me and you among them, he will say to the people:
Here, read my record!
[Al-Haqqah 69:19]
He will show it to them with joy and happiness at what Allah has bestowed upon him. And as for the one who is given his book with his left hand, he will say with sadness, grief, and sorrow:
Oh, I wish I had not been given my record
[Al-Haqqah 69:25]

And among what must be believed in on that Day is belief in the Reckoning, because Allah the Exalted will reckon the creatures, as the Exalted said:
And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.
[Al-Anbya 21:47]
And Allah the Exalted said:
He will be judged with an easy account
[Al-Inshiqaq 84:8]
So Allah will reckon the creatures. But the reckoning of the believer is a light reckoning, in which there is no questioning.
Allah the Exalted will be alone with His believing servant, place a screen over him, and confront him with his sins, saying: Do you remember such and such? Do you remember such and such? Until he says: Yes. He acknowledges all of it. Then Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says to him: I have concealed it from you in this world, and I forgive it for you today.
And how many are the sins that Allah has concealed from us! So if the person is a believer,
Allah said: I have concealed it from you in this world, and I forgive it for you today. As for the disbeliever,
and refuge is sought in Allah,
He will be exposed and humiliated, and it will be called out over the heads of the witnesses: These are those who lied about their Lord. So the curse of Allah be upon the wrongdoers.
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 65:263

And among what must be believed in on that Day is the Hawd, the Hawd that is visited by our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). It is a pool into which two spouts from al-Kawthar are poured, which is the river that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was given in Paradise, as the Exalted said:
Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], al-Kawthar.
[Al-Kawthar 108:1]
So two spouts from it are poured into the pool that will be in the plains of Resurrection. The Prophet (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) described it:
that its water is whiter than milk, sweeter than honey, and more fragrant than musk, that its vessels are like the stars of the sky, that its length is a month and its width is a month, and that whoever drinks from it once will never be thirsty again thereafter.
This pool will be visited by the believers from the Ummah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I ask Allah to make me and you among those who drink from it. The believers will visit it and drink from it. And as for the one who did not believe in the Messenger (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him), he will be driven away from it and will not drink from it. We ask Allah for safety.
And this pool that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, made for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is the greatest of the pools of the prophets. And every prophet has a pool that the believers from his Ummah visit, but they are not compared to the pool of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), because this Ummah represents two-thirds of the people of Paradise, two-thirds of the people of Paradise. So it is no wonder that the pool of the Prophet (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) is the greatest of the pools, the largest, the widest, the most magnificent, and the most comprehensive.
And among what must be believed in on that Day is belief in the Sirat. The Sirat is a bridge erected over Hellfire, and people will pass over it according to their deeds. It is thinner than a hair and sharper than a sword. People will pass over it according to their deeds. Whoever was hasty in good deeds in this world will be swift in walking on this Sirat. And whoever was slow will be slow. And whoever mixed a good deed with an evil deed, and Allah did not pardon him, he may fall into the Fire, refuge is sought in Allah. People will differ in walking on it. Some will pass like the flash of lightning, some like the lightning bolt, some like the wind, some like a swift horse, some like a camel rider, some will walk, some will crawl, and some will be thrown into Hellfire.
And this Sirat is not passed over by anyone except the believers only. As for the disbelievers, they do not pass over it, because they are driven in the plains of Resurrection directly to the Fire. We ask Allah for safety. The Sirat is not passed over by anyone except the believer, but the sinner may fall into the Fire and be punished according to his sins. And the rest of the speech on this will come, if Allah wills.
