The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
We have previously mentioned the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reported about the three men from the Children of Israel: the leper, the bald man, and the blind man. In their story are signs from the signs of Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
Among these is the affirmation of the angels. The angels are a hidden realm created by Allah (Mighty and Majestic) from light. He gave them the power to carry out His command and the will to obey Him. They do not disobey Allah in what He commands them, and they do what they are ordered to do.
Among these is that the angels may appear in the form of human beings, for the angel came to these three in the form of a human.
Among these is also that they, meaning the angels, can take the form of a specific person, as came to the leper, the bald man, and the blind man the second time in his form and appearance.
Among these is also that it is permissible for a person to be tested by someone coming in a specific form to test him. This angel came in the form of a needy person afflicted with a disability to evoke pity from these three, even though the angel, as it appears, and knowledge is with Allah, is not originally afflicted with disabilities. But Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) made them come in this form for the sake of testing.
Among the benefits in this is that the angel touched the leper, the bald man, and the blind man with a single touch, and Allah removed their defects with this touch. For when Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) wills a thing, He says to it, "Be," and it is. Had Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) willed, He would have removed their disabilities without this angel. But Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) made this a cause for trial and examination.
Among these is that Allah the Exalted may bless a person with wealth so that it yields much. These three men came to have a valley of camels, a valley of cattle, and a valley of sheep, respectively. This is from the blessing of Allah. The angel prayed for each of them for blessing, giving him
Among these is the difference among human beings in thanking Allah for His blessings and benefiting the servants of Allah. The leper and the bald man, to whom Allah gave the most important and greatest wealth, denied the blessing of Allah. They said, "We only inherited this wealth from father to grandfather," and they lied in that, for they were poor and Allah gave them wealth. But they, refuge with Allah, denied the blessing of Allah and said, "This is from our fathers and grandfathers." As for the blind man, he thanked Allah for His blessing and acknowledged the favor to Allah, and therefore Allah guided him and made him successful.Sahih Muslim 2964
Among these is also the affirmation of the pleasure and anger of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), meaning that He is pleased with whom He wills and angry with whom He wills. This is among the attributes that a person must affirm for his Lord (Glorified and Exalted is He), for Allah described Himself with them. In the Noble Qur'an[Al-Ma'idah 5:119] and in the Noble Qur'an [Al-Ma'idah 5:80] and in the Great Qur'an, anger [An-Nisa 4:93] These attributes and their like are believed in by the people of the Sunnah and the community as being established for Allah in reality, but they do not resemble the attributes of the created beings, just as Allah Himself (Mighty and Majestic) does not resemble the created beings, so His attributes do not resemble the attributes of the created beings.
Among the benefits of this hadith is that among the Children of Israel were wonders and signs that made the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) convey to us their news so that we may take a lesson. Like this hadith is the story of the three men who took refuge in a cave, and a rock from the mountain closed over them, blocking the cave, and they were unable to move it. Each of them sought nearness to Allah the Exalted through his good deeds.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) relates to us from the news of the Children of Israel what contains admonition and lesson. It is upon us to take a lesson from this hadith of Abu Hurayrah regarding the three: the leper, the bald man, and the blind man. That a person, if he thanks Allah for His blessing, acknowledges the favor to Allah, and fulfills what is obligatory upon him in his wealth, that is among the causes of preservation and blessing in his wealth. And success is from Allah.
