The Shaykh : So Allah said about them: [Al-Ahzab 33:22] The difference between the two groups is that when these people saw the confederates and saw this severity, they knew that victory and relief would follow it. They said: [Al-Ahzab 33:22] Victory will come, and the kingdom of Kisra will be conquered, and the kingdoms of Kisra, Caesar, and Yemen will be conquered, and so it was, praise be to Allah. The point is His saying: [Al-Ahzab 33:22] This is the height of certainty: that a person remains steadfast, believing, and certain during times of hardship and distress. This is the opposite of the one whose reliance is weak and whose certainty is weak, for when calamities and distress befall him, he may turn on his face, as Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Hajj 22:11] meaning on the edge, [Al-Hajj 22:11] and refuge is sought in Allah. [Al-Hajj 22:11] Many people, as long as they are in well-being, are reassured, but when they are tested, and refuge is sought in Allah, they turn on their face. They turn on their face, and perhaps they reach the level of apostasy and disbelief. They object to Allah regarding the divine decree and destiny, they dislike the decree of Allah, and consequently they dislike Allah, and refuge is sought in Allah. This is because initially, no harm had befallen him, and no trial had touched him, but in the second case, the trial befall him, and he turned on his face.
And in these verses and their like is evidence that it is obligatory for a person to fear, to tremble, and to be wary of the deviation of the heart, and to constantly ask Allah for steadfastness. For there is no heart among the hearts of the children of Adam but that it is between two fingers of the Most Merciful, and He turns it as He wills. If He wills, He makes it upright, and if He wills, He causes it to deviate, and refuge is sought in Allah. So we ask Allah, the Turner of hearts, to make our hearts steadfast upon His obedience, and to grant us uprightness upon His religion and steadfastness upon it.
The reader: He said (may Allah have mercy on him): "The Chapter on Certainty and Reliance upon Allah. Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Ahzab 33:22] And He said: [Ali 'Imran 3:173-174] And He said: [Al-Furqan 25:58] And He said: [Ali 'Imran 3:122] And He said: [Ali 'Imran 3:159] And the verses regarding the command to rely upon Allah are numerous and well-known."
And when the believers saw the companies, they said, "This is what Allah and His Messenger had promised us, and Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth."
