The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) established this chapter on hastening to do good and encouraging one who turns to good to resolve to do it and proceed with it without hesitation. He previously discussed the first verse, which is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And race toward the good deeds.
, and the beginning of the second verse, which is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous
[Ali 'Imran 3:133]
. Allah the Mighty and Majestic says:
prepared for the righteous أعدت للمتقين
, meaning it has been prepared for them, and the One who prepared it for them is Allah the Mighty and Majestic, as mentioned in the Holy Hadith:
I have prepared for My righteous slaves (such excellent things) as no eye has ever seen, nor an ear has ever heard nor a human heart can ever think of.
Sahih al-Bukhari 7498
. And who are the righteous? Allah the Exalted said:
(134) Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and Allah loves the doers of good; (135) And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves [by transgression], remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins - and who can forgive sins except Allah? - and [who] do not persist in what they have done while they know. (136) Those - their reward is forgiveness from their Lord and gardens beneath which rivers flow [in Paradise], wherein they will abide eternally; and excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers.
[Ali 'Imran 3:134-136]
. These are the righteous:
Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship
[Ali 'Imran 3:134]
However, Allah the Glorious and Exalted did not specify here the amount they spend, but He specified it in many verses, saying:
And they ask you what they should spend. Say, "The excess [beyond needs]."
[Al-Baqarah 2:219]
