Explanation of the words of Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding what he quoted: "

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted from Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Every Muslim has to give in charity على كل مسلم صدقة
Sahih al-Bukhari 1445
We have also encountered a similar expression from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), indeed broader than this, where he said:
Sadaqa is due on every joint of a person, every day the sun rises. على كل سُلامى من الناس صدقة كل يوم تطلع فيه الشمس
Sahih Muslim 1009
The *sulamiyyah* are the joints of the bones, and this indicates that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has a charity due from us every day. This charity is varied; it may be a *tasbih*, a *takbir*, a *tahlil*, enjoining good, forbidding evil, or helping the distressed. The important thing is that the means of doing good are many, but the soul that commands evil discourages a person from good. When he intends to do something, it opens a door to something else for him, and then when he intends to do that, it opens another door for him, until his time is wasted and he loses his time without benefiting from it in any way. Therefore, a person should hasten and rush to do good. Whenever a door of good is opened for him, he should rush to it, due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And race toward the good deeds. فاستبقوا الخيرات
And because if a person is opened a door of good for the first time but he does not act on it, he is likely to be delayed by Allah (Mighty and Majestic). In the hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said:
If people continue to lag behind, Allah will put them back. لا يزال قوم يتأخرون حتى يؤخرهم الله
Sunan Ibn Majah 978Sahih (Darussalam)
So the important thing is that the sensible, decisive, believing person should seize the opportunities for good and strive with utmost effort to take a share from every one of these doors, so that he may be among those who hasten to good deeds and reap the fruits of these righteous deeds. We ask Allah to help us and you in His remembrance, His gratitude, and the excellence of His worship. Indeed, He is Generous and Noble.
The reciter: In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy. And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. And may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
