The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "The chapter on cooperation in righteousness and piety" Cooperation means mutual assistance, and it means that people help one another in righteousness and piety. Righteousness is doing good, and piety is guarding against evil. This is because people act in two ways: in what contains good and in what contains evil. As for what contains good, cooperation in it means that you help your companion in this action and facilitate the matter for him, whether this relates to you or to someone else. As for evil, cooperation in it means that you warn against it and prevent it as much as you can, and that you advise the one who intends to do it to leave it, and so on. So, righteousness is doing good, and cooperation in it is mutual assistance in doing it and facilitating it for people. Piety is guarding against evil, and cooperation in it is that you stand between people and the doing of evil, and that you warn them against it, until the community becomes one community. And this command in His saying: is a command of obligation in what is obligatory and a command of recommendation in what is recommended. Likewise, in piety, it is a command of obligation in what is forbidden and a command of recommendation in what is disliked. As for the second evidence for cooperation in righteousness and piety, it is what the author (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned from the context of Surat al-Asr, where Allah the Exalted said: [Al-'Asr 103:1-3] So Allah the Exalted swore by al-Asr, which is time. He swore by it because time is the container of deeds, and among the people in it, some fill it with good and some fill it with evil, refuge with Allah. So He swore by al-Asr because of the appropriateness of the thing sworn by to the thing sworn upon, which is the deeds of the servants. He said: [Al-'Asr 103:2] "Al-insan" is a general term that includes every human being, whether believer or disbeliever, just or open sinner, male or female. Every human being is in loss; every deed of his is a loss for him, toil in this world and no benefit in the Hereafter, except for the one who gathers these four descriptions: [Al-'Asr 103:3] So they rectified themselves through faith and righteous deeds, and they rectified others by advising one another to truth and advising one another to patience. Faith is belief in everything that must be believed in from what Allah and His Messenger informed us of. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified it in his saying: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2610Sahih (Darussalam) Six pillars. As for righteous deeds, they are doing everything that brings one closer to Allah. And a deed is not righteous except with two conditions: sincerity for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and following the Messenger. Sincerity for Allah means that you do not intend by your deed the worship of the servants of Allah; you do not intend by your deed the worship of the servants of Allah; you do not intend by your deed the worship of the servants of Allah; you do not intend anything but the Face of Allah and the Hereafter. As for following, it is following the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) such that you do not bring in an innovation, because an innovation, even if a person is sincere in it, is rejected. Sahih Muslim 1718b And worship that contains following but contains showing off is also rejected, due to His saying: Sahih Muslim 2985 And it is a Hadith Qudsi: Sahih Muslim 2985 These are the righteous deeds: what is pure for Allah and in accordance with the Shari'ah of Allah. As for His saying: it means that some of them advise one another to truth, which is what the messengers brought. upon it, because the soul needs patience to do the acts of obedience and leave the forbidden things. Al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "If Allah had not revealed to His servants a surah other than this surah, it would have sufficed them" because it is comprehensive and sufficient. I ask Allah the Exalted to make me and you among the believers who do righteous deeds, who advise one another to truth, and who advise one another to patience. Indeed, He is Hearing and Near.
