The Obligation of a Muslim Cooperating with His Muslim Brothers in Righteousness and God-Consciousness

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it permissible to cooperate with the Islamic groups active in the field? And to what extent can cooperation take place? We ask for your guidance, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
It is prescribed to cooperate with all Muslims in righteousness and God-consciousness; indeed, it is obligatory when one is able to do so. This is based on the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) :
And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression.
[Al-Ma'idah: 2], and His saying (Mighty and Majestic):
By Time,وَالْعَصْرِ ۝
Indeed, man is in loss, except for those who believe and do righteous deeds and enjoin one another to truth and enjoin one another to patience [Al-Asr: 1-3].
Among the forms of cooperation in righteousness and God-consciousness, and of enjoining one another to truth and patience, is clarifying the rulings of the Shari'ah and warning against religious innovations, and explaining the correct creed upon which the Salaf of the Ummah, the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and those who followed them with excellence, proceeded.
Among the forms of cooperation and mutual exhortation is enjoining good and forbidding evil, and boycotting those who deserve to be boycotted. This is based on the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) :
The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Those - Allah will have mercy upon them. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.
[At-Tawbah: 71], and His saying (Mighty and Majestic):
Cursed were those who disbelieved among the Children of Israel by the tongue of David and of Jesus, the son of Mary. That was because they disobeyed and [habitually] transgressed.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:78]
They used not to forbid one another from doing an evil which they used to do. Evil was indeed what they used to do [Al-Ma'idah: 78-79].
And the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The similitude of believers in regard to mutual love, affection, fellow-feeling is that of one body; when any limb of it aches, the whole body aches, because of sleeplessness and fever.
Sahih Muslim 2586a
, and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
The religion is sincere advice
. It was said: For whom, O Messenger of Allah? He said:
To Allah, to His Book, To His Messenger, and to the leaders of the Muslims and their masses.
Sahih Muslim 55a
. It was narrated by Muslim in his Sahih, and the verses and hadiths in this meaning are numerous.
