The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
We have previously spoken about two parts of this hadith, which are: sincere advice to Allah and sincere advice to the Book of Allah. As for the third, or rather the third point, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sincere advice to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) includes several things. The first is complete faith in his message and that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) sent him to all of creation, Arabs and non-Arabs, and indeed jinn and humans. Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said: [An-Nisa 4:79] And He said: [Al-Furqan 25:1] to all the worlds. And He said: [Al-Anbya 21:107] And there are many verses on this matter. So you must believe that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah to all of creation, from jinn and humans. And sincere advice to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) includes believing in his news, that he is truthful and believed, truthful in what he reports and believed in what he reported from the revelation. He never lied, nor was he lied about, (peace and blessings be upon him). And sincere advice to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) includes sincere following of him, such that you do not exceed his Shari'ah or fall short of it. You make him your leader in all acts of worship, for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is the leader of this Ummah and the one followed. It is not permissible for anyone to follow anyone else except one who is an intermediary between you and the Messenger, such that he has knowledge of the Sunnah that you do not have. In that case, there is no harm in following this man, on the condition that you believe he is an intermediary between you and the Shari'ah, not that he is independent, because no one is independent in legislation except the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) by the command of Allah. As for anyone else, he is a conveyor from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2669Sahih (Darussalam) Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2669Sahih (Darussalam) And sincere advice to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) includes defending his Shari'ah and protecting it. Defending it means that no one diminishes it, and defending it means that no one adds to it what is not part of it. So you fight the people of innovation in their verbal, practical, and creedal innovations, because all innovations are one door, one field, and all are misguidance, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No innovation is excluded from this, whether verbal, practical, or creedal. Everything that contradicts the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and what he brought in creed, speech, or action is an innovation. So sincere advice to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is to fight the people of innovation with the same means they use to fight the Sunnah. If they fight with speech, then with speech; if they fight with action, then with action, in kind, because this is part of sincere advice to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). And sincere advice to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) includes respecting his Companions, honoring them, and loving them, because the companions of a person are undoubtedly his special ones among people and the most intimate to him. For this reason, the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) were the best of generations, because they were the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So whoever insults the Companions, or hates them, or mocks them, or points to something to disparage them, has not given sincere advice to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). And if he claims to be a sincere advisor to the Messenger, he is a liar. How can you insult the companions of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and hate them, while you love the Messenger and give him sincere advice? And it was reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 33:79 So if the companions of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) are insulted by the one who insults, fabricates, and lies, then in reality he has insulted the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and has not given him sincere advice. Rather, in reality, it is a disparagement of the Shari'ah, because the bearers of the Shari'ah to us are the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). If they are worthy of insult and disparagement, then the Shari'ah is not trusted, because its transmitters are people of blame and disparagement. Indeed, insulting the Companions is insulting Allah (Mighty and Majestic), may Allah keep us safe. And it is a disparagement of His wisdom in choosing for His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and for the bearers of His religion those who are worthy of blame and disparagement. So, sincere advice to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) includes loving his Companions, respecting them, and honoring them. This is part of the religion. Thus, sincere advice to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) includes all these matters. And Allah knows best.
