The Shaykh : In any case, what matters to us is that he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Hajj in the last year of his life, in the tenth year, and he did not perform Hajj before that after his migration. This is because Makkah was in the hands of the polytheists until the eighth year of the Hijrah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) conquered it in Ramadan in the eighth year, then he went out to al-Ta'if and campaigned against Thaqif, and the famous Battle of al-Ta'if took place. Then he returned and stayed at al-Ja'ranah and performed 'Umrah at night, and not many people knew about it. Then he returned to al-Madinah; this was in the eighth year. In the ninth year, delegations would come to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from every direction, so he remained in al-Madinah to receive the delegations so as not to burden them by having to search for him. That is, so that when the delegations came to al-Madinah, they would find the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and not tire themselves out searching for him, going right and left. So he did not perform Hajj in the ninth year in order to receive the delegations; this is from one aspect. From another aspect, in the ninth year, the polytheists performed Hajj with the Muslims because they had not been prevented from entering Makkah. Then they were prevented from entering Makkah, and Allah the Exalted revealed: [At-Tawbah 9:28] And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) announced in the Hajj that no polytheist should perform Hajj after this year, and no one should circumambulate the House naked. The leader of the people in that Hajj, which I mean the Hajj of the year nine, was Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent 'Ali ibn Abi Talab after him. In the tenth year, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) announced that he would perform Hajj, and a large number of people entered al-Madinah, estimated at about one hundred thousand. The Muslims were all one hundred and twenty-four thousand, meaning that only a few Muslims were absent. So they performed Hajj with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in this Hajj which was called the Farewell Pilgrimage, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bade farewell to the people in it in his saying: As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 16:413 And it became so, for he passed away after his return to al-Madinah in Rabi' al-Awwal, meaning after his Hajj in Muharram and Safar and twelve days of Rabi' al-Awwal, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the Farewell Pilgrimage would preach to the people in 'Arafah and preach to them in Mina. He mentioned the Dajjal, the Messiah al-Dajjal, and magnified his status and warned against him with a severe warning. He also did this in al-Madinah; he mentioned the Dajjal and warned against him and emphasized his status until the Companions said: meaning that he had come and entered because of the intensity of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) speech about him. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) informed them: As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 59:2 All the prophets warn their people of the Dajjal, frightening them, from Nuh to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). And they used to warn their people even though Allah knows that he will not appear except at the end of the world, in order to emphasize the importance of the matter and to show its gravity, and that all religions warn against him. Because this Dajjal, may Allah protect us and you from his trial, and his like, this Dajjal comes to the people and calls them to worship him and says: I am your Lord, and if you wish, I will show you that I am your Lord. He commands the sky and says to it: Rain, and it rains. And he commands the earth and says: Grow, and it grows. If they disobey, he commands the earth to wither and the sky to be dry, and the people become parched. This is undoubtedly a great danger, especially in the desert which knows nothing but water and pasture. So many people will follow him except those whom Allah protects. And with this, he has clear signs indicating that he is a liar. Among them: that it is written between his eyes: Kafir (disbeliever), K-F-R, Kafir. Only the believer reads it, even if he does not know how to read. And the disbeliever is unable to read it, even if he can read, because this writing is not ordinary writing; it is divine writing from Allah the Mighty and Majestic. And among his signs: that he is one-eyed, one-eyed in the right eye. And the Lord the Mighty and Majestic is not one-eyed. The Lord, Glorified and Exalted is He, is perfect in attributes, there is no deficiency in Him, there is no deficiency in His attributes in any way. As for this one, he is one-eyed in the right eye, as if it is a floating grape. And this is a clear physical sign that everyone knows. If someone says: If he has this apparent physical sign, how will people be deluded by him? We say: Allah the Exalted said in His Book: [Yunus 10:101] There is no benefit in it. Those whom Allah has led astray, the signs of misguidance as a warning or the signs of guidance as good news do not benefit them. They do not benefit even if the sign is apparent. Then the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified that this sign is not hidden from anyone, and he clarified in another hadith that if he comes out and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is among them, he is his debater against them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) argues on behalf of his Ummah (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: So the Lord the Mighty and Majestic assigned it. So the result is that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) warned against the Dajjal with a severe warning. And let it be known that the greater Dajjal will appear at the end of time, and he will remain on the earth for forty days, forty days only. But the first day is like a year, twelve months. The sun remains at the zenith of the sky for six months from the east to the west, not setting. And it remains hidden at night for six months. This is the first day. The second day is like a month, and the third day is like a week, and the remaining days are like the other days. How many days remain? Thirty-seven days like the other days. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed the Companions of this hadith, they did not find it difficult how the sun remains a full year without revolving around the earth, while it revolves around it in twenty-four hours. They did not find this difficult because they know that the power of Allah is above that and that Allah is capable of anything. And the Companions generally do not ask about cosmic or decreed matters because they know the power of Allah the Mighty and Majestic. But they ask about the matters that concern them, the religious matters. When he informed them that he will remain for a year, they said: meaning: they estimated the time between the prayers and prayed. If, for example, the sun did not move, when dawn breaks we pray Fajr. When the time between dawn and noon has passed, we pray Dhuhr, even if the sun is in the first part of the east, and it will be in the first part of the east because it will remain for a full year. So he said: So we pray the prayer of a year on the first day. And fasting, we fast a month and estimate for the fast. And zakah likewise. And this is perhaps a riddle, it is said: "A wealth for which only one day has passed, yet zakah became obligatory on it". Likewise, on the second day we estimate the prayer of a month, and the third the prayer of a week, and the fourth the days return to how they are. And in Allah's inspiration to the Companions to ask this question is a lesson, because now in the northern and southern parts of the earth there are people for whom the sun is hidden for six months and rises for six months. If not for this hadith, it would have been difficult for people how do these people pray? And how do they fast? But now apply this hadith to the condition of these people and say: These people for whom the sun is a full year estimate the prayer according to its measure, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) guided the Companions in estimating the prayer in the days of the Dajjal. And the rest of the speech on this hadith will come, if Allah wills.
