The Shaykh’s explanation that the root of the spread of religious innovations among Muslims is relying on general texts, with the unified adhan in Jordan as an example

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The root of the spread of religious innovations among Muslims, both in the past and the present, is their reliance on general texts that were not acted upon by the Muslims of the early generations (Salaf) or the later generations (Khalaf). Let us give a new example: here in this country now, there is a single adhan, which they call the unified adhan. This is undoubtedly a recent religious innovation that was not acted upon by the Salaf. In fact, this is a suspension of an Islamic ritual. I do not know who introduced it, but it is undoubtedly applicable to it his saying (peace be upon him):
Whoever introduces a bad practice in Islam, he will bear its sin and the sin of everyone who acts in accordance with it until the Day of Resurrection مَن سَنَّ في الإسلامِ سنَّةً سيِّئةً ، فعليه وزرُها ، ووزرُ مَن عَمِلَ بها إلى يوم القيامة
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 12:118
. There is no doubt that he clung to some general texts, just as those who add to the adhan, either by dhikr or by sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), cling to general texts that you know. But the Salaf did not act upon these general texts. Therefore, we say with the scholars: "Every good is in following those who came before, and every evil is in the innovation of those who came after." This is the answer to this question. I do not know, the time is almost up.

The questioner : Our Shaykh, the question we asked you before Friday and which slipped away from us: Was the return of Kuwait due to the supplications of the sincere Kuwaitis or by seeking the help of the Americans? We want a detailed, explicit account of what happened?

The Shaykh : Seeking the help of disbelievers.
